Self Drive Requirements, If you are planning on using a self-drive car rental during your stay in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania there are some criteria you must fulfil to ensure an enjoyable experience.
Minimum age required:
Nineteen years of age. Drivers must possess a minimum of one year of driving experience before renting a vehicle. The ‘Escort Drive’ programme has been approved.
When renting a vehicle, a driver classified as a “young driver” incurs a designated fee (as per the Terms and Conditions of the rental country) – the “Young Driver Surcharge.”
The terms and circumstances of the Young Driver Surcharge may differ by nation; thus, it is highly advisable to review the pertinent terms and restrictions at the time of online booking.

Local driving permit:
You must provide your standard driving licence, granted by your country of residency, which has been kept for a minimum duration as per local laws or regulations, to our customer representative.
Required identification documents:
An identifying document, such as a passport or identification card, may also be necessary. The driver’s licence is inadequate.
Collection and delivery:
Our focus is on simplifying your life and eliminating the inconveniences associated with flying. You are not required to pick up and return your vehicle at the same location, and you may also schedule delivery or collection of your car. All intended to conserve your precious time.
Extra additions:
Driving ought to be as comfortable, convenient, and pragmatic as feasible. Our vehicle hire extras allow you to select options that enhance your driving experience.
Optional extras may be chosen throughout the booking process or requested upon collection.
Driving Cross Borders:
Should you want to traverse national boundaries, you must notify us in advance, as driving restrictions may be applicable. Should the route be authorised, we will provide you with the appropriate papers and guarantee you have breakdown support coverage. Supplementary fees may be incurred.
Vehicle Insurance
All rental automobiles in Uganda are required to possess third-party insurance. Ensure you verify with the automobile rental company that the vehicle is insured prior to commencing your journey.
Regulations Governing Traffic
Acquaint yourself with the traffic regulations in Uganda, encompassing speed limits, traffic signals, and driving on the right side of the road. Understanding road conditions and weather trends is crucial for ensuring your safety while driving.
(GPS) Global Positioning System Navigation
GPS navigation is crucial in Uganda due to the inadequate road signage. Ensure you procure a rental vehicle equipped with GPS navigation or carry your own device.
Payment methods:
A genuine credit card must be presented for authorisation purposes.
The renter, who is the cardholder, must be physically present to sign the rental agreement.
